This year, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception is a holy day of obligation. In previous years, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops indicated that the obligation to attend Mass was abrogated (removed) when a holy day occurred on a Sunday and was transferred to Monday. That is no longer the case; the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception is a Holy Day of Obligation this year, even though it is transferred to Monday, December 9.
