We had a great response to Recycle Weekend, which took place on October 26-27 in all three of the parishes in our Anderson-Alexandria Pastorate. In all, we collected over 1,000 pounds of aluminum and other metal cans, and received almost $450 for the cans.
Although fundraising was not the primary reason for Recycle Weekend, the funds received will be shared between our pastorate schools (70%) and the Care for Creation Committee (30%). Our goals were to highlight the importance of recycling and the work of the Care for Creation Committee, which sponsored the collection.
Recent papal teaching has declared that work on behalf of God’s good creation is essential to the mission of the Catholic Church.
