Summary:
The Director of Evangelization, Family Life, and Pastoral Ministries ("Director") will collaborate with the Pastor in cultivating and guiding the pastoral care of the Pastorate.
This role includes participation and leadership in pastoral planning for the Pastorate, along with direct or indirect responsibility for faith formation, hispanic ministry, sacramental preparation, liturgy, outreach, and other pastoral ministry in the parishes and schools of our pastorate.
The Director Calls forth leaders in these areas of pastoral life and ministry, and provides them with formation, support, and accompaniment as they focus their ministerial energy both internally (toward the people, communities, and structures of the pastorate) and externally (toward the mission of our pastorate to serve and to evangelize those outside our membership).
In the context of the pastoral planning initiative in the Diocese of Lafayette in Indiana, Uniting in Heart 2030, the director serves as a member of the Pastorate Leadership Team. The Director advocates and facilitates the participation and faithful witness of the laity in the church’s pastoral mission and ministries in the pastorate. The director helps to create opportunities for participation and leadership by the people of the pastorate, provide formation and training to empower them and entrust them as disciples serving the mission of the church in our Pastorate, and accompany them on the pilgrimage of discipleship, mission, and ministry.
Essential Duties:
● Works closely with the Pastor and the other members of the Pastorate Leadership Team to discern the needs of the parish, and plans accordingly for the future of the community.
● Calls forth, mentors, and manages those leading and conducting pastoral ministry in the Pastorate to strategically address the Pastorate mission, build a culture of teamwork, and provide coherence across varied programs.
● Collaborates with diocesan leadership and with Directors of Evangelization, Family Life, and Pastoral Ministries in other Pastorates of the diocese.
● Establishes, facilitates, and coordinates management processes for employees engaged in pastoral ministry, including recruitment, retention, formation, and performance management.
● Adapts professional management processes for volunteers engaged in leadership in pastoral ministry.
● Develops annual budgets for the appropriate ministries within the Pastorate in collaboration with the Director of Operations.
● Fosters an environment of inclusion among the three parishes and two schools of the Pastorate; across cultural, ethnic, economic, social, and generational lines, and with persons with disabilities.
● Ensures compliance with Diocesan policies, regulations, and budget guidelines.
● Specific Duties: In addition to overall direction, leadership and supervision, the Director is also directly responsible for ensuring the effectiveness of the following Pastorate ministries:
○ Sacramental Preparation (First Confession, First Eucharist, Confirmation)
○ Youth Ministry (in collaboration with youth ministry personnel and volunteers)
○ Adult Formation (in coordination with clergy and appropriate Pastorate volunteers).

● Ability to converse in both Spanish and English. (Strongly desired) Education/Experience:
● Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with study in Theology, Divinity, Pastoral Studies or equivalent. (Preferred)
● At least three years of experience in parish ministry and/ or management of a non-for profit organization. Proven track record coaching or developing others. (Preferred)
● Three or more years of leadership experience in parish ministry. (Preferred)
● Three or more years of leadership/management experience. (Preferred) Qualifications: To perform this job successfully a person must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
